Naruto Chapter 694 – Sasuke being all dramatic

Best Friends: At Odds

Finally, I get to see Sasuke admitting Naruto is the closest thing to a best friend he’s ever had. It’s the same as he’s saying that Naruto is the only other person he loves besides his older brother Itachi. And this alone brings tons of NaruSasu feels!!!!!!!!! I haven’t even read the whole chapter and just seeing this drowns me with so much NaruSasu feels, endless NaruSasu feels. NaruSasu forever, and to be honest NaruSasu is the cannon couple of Naruto.

Sasuke baring it all

It gives me the giggling feeling as if Sasuke is confessing his love for Naruto. A lot of NaruSasu fans are beyond happy with Sasuke spilling his heart out. And that we finally get to see that Sasuke isn’t exactly evil, that he’s no stone heart after all, and that he’s capable of revealing his real feelings after all this time.

With the manga nearing its epic finish next month, Nov. 10 as I saw from one Tumblr post; it gives me that bittersweet feeling – a mix of huge excitement to how it’s all gonna wrap up and sadness because it’s about to conclude.

Naruto and Sasuke fighting together against Obito

That same feeling when the last book of Harry Potter was finally released. But then again, fans still had the movies to hold onto. Just like with Naruto, even after the manga has concluded, fans still have the anime series to hold onto. But when the series also concludes, just as when Deathly Hallows II was released; I am surely gonna be really sad about it. This is something no one can ever be prepared for, emotions will just get the best of you.

I may not always be updated with watching the latest episode or reading the latest chapter, but Naruto is always on top of my big favorites because I just so love the story and the characters.

First Thoughts – Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami

I recall being so excited when I first read a synopsis of Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage last year. I knew it from then that it is something I should get my hands on and will be included in one of my best Murakami books.

I did not have this particular reaction with 1Q84 though when I first heard about it. I don’t really know what is wrong with the story that somehow it doesn’t appeal to me, for now maybe. Maybe it’s just my taste or maybe something is wrong with me that I’m not all excited with what it is about.

After finishing Claire Tomalin’s Invisible Woman yesterday, I started reading Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki earlier over a rice cake and hot chocolate.

I particularly love this passage on page 8.  A unique sense of harmony developed between them – each one needed the other four and, in turn, shared the sense that they too were needed. The whole convergence was like a lucky but entirely accidental chemical fusion, something that could only happen once.

At this early part of Tsukuru’s story, I identify with some qualities of his friend Shiro, whose family name means ‘white root.’ She’s slim and tall, with a model’s body, graceful features of a traditional Japanese doll, with silky lustrous long black hair, a skilled pianist, a serious person, dislikes drawing attention to herself, beautiful, and dreams of becoming a vet.

And while I don’t have a model’s body nor features of a Japanese doll, not even a long silky black hair, nor am I beautiful or a skilled pianist, and does not dream of becoming a vet; but as I picture her in my mind and the things we have in common, I think if she’s ever real I can really be good friends with her.

But still, I connect the most to Tsukuru who views himself having no special qualities or a striking personality, a weird kid, with incurable boredom, whose only real interest are train stations, and who thinks there is something about him that is not exactly normal.

It is like getting to know someone who thinks the same way as I am. I don’t particularly have his profound adoration to train stations but I do love beautiful train stations like HongKong’s MTR – I adore it. I can literally spend all day hopping on and off at every station. One reason I also love the cover design of the book is the use of train station colors and stops. I could say I’m an average train station enthusiast compared to Tsukuru. However, we both have the same view of thinking that we are colorless.

A big thanks to my brother Jorge who bought the book for me.

Quite a long walk home

Quite a long walk home today in wet, mucky, and sticky roads due to the heavy rain earlier this afternoon. At least I was listening to Angel Eyes OST to keep me from being bored as I walk one block after the other until I finally get a ride.

I specially like this part of the lyrics of Blue Bird by Jo Jung-hee.

Kim Ji-suk and Goo Hye-sun, two of the main cast of Angel Eyes

Where do you go
when you’re lonely
Tell me
What you do
when you feel so blue like me

When I feel like that
I think your eyes
and your smile
And suddenly, the sunshine
appears close to me

Not surprisingly though, I wasn’t even sweating. Well that’s because it rained and it was already 12am. I managed to get home at 1am, as if I went to somewhere so far that it took me that long to get home.

Before I decided to go home, I had to keep myself busy with having kumquat tea while reading Invisible Woman on its chapter 15. When I finished the chapter, I started looking at the brochure I got from a tech shop as I was canvassing prices for a microSD. I couldn’t stay any longer after more than an hour at Dakasi because I really had to take a restroom break. It was still raining a bit hard when I checked outside, so I went to have ramyun as dinner. And then the mall closes.

As I got out of the mall, I heard the guard saying there’s floodwater along Espana Road and that kept me from going home. I stayed at a convenience store for an hour, I sipped coffee and continued with chapter 16. I was at the brink of deciding whether I’d go on and finish until chapter 18 or start heading home. Eventually, I decided with heading home and found lots of people waiting for a ride home. There’s no more floodwater but the next dilemma is getting a ride home when every passing jeepney or bus is full.

So I started walking and turned on my iPod to listen to the very beautiful Angel Eyes OST.

If only I’m walking on a pavement as beautiful as the photo. Then walking in the rain wouldn’t be that bad.
